The Beauty of Bambili

The name Bambili came from the word "MBELLIGI" meaning " I will sleep". It was during the time of German annexation when various names of villages in the Northwest province were being documented.

Bambili is the centre of Education in the North West of Cameroon. It has atleast; one government nursary school, four government primary schools, four private prenursary-nursary-primary schools, one government high school(CCAST BAMBILI), and lastly, The Higher Teachers Training College Annex Bambili(ENSAB) , The faculty of Agriculture being The University of Dschang Antenna. etc

The image above depicts the Bambili lake, it is located at the extreme north of Bambili. As can be seen , its neighbourhood is not inhabited. It is one of the cultural heritage of the indigines of Bambili.

It is illegal to pay a visit to it without obtaining permission from the Palace. As a result, tourists need to consult the Palace for the kins men of the Fon to give them the necessary advice. The issue of advice is critical because a visit has to be made known to the gods of this lake so that they can offer a smile to the visitor.

This lake does not contain fish, it is inhabited by ripples. These ripples are cought only by people appointed from the palace. The ripples are distributed to the indigines through the Quarter heads of the village...

Apart from being a centre of education, Bambili also has a rich cultural diversity and why not a an attractive touristic site. Some parts of Bambili are hilly and acts as a shield .
